Diane Weiman is an accomplished, South African artist whose pastel paintings are well known for their lifelike realism and sensitivity. Diane’s work is inspired by her love of the African bush and her art is represented in corporate offices, game lodges and private homes. Diane’s original paintings and limited edition prints are to be found in the USA, UK, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Israel, Saudi Arabia and Spain. She works from her home studio in Johannesburg but spends as much time as possible in the bush collecting reference materials, sketching and taking photographs from which she paints. Her paintings are not simply portraits of animals and birds but bring a sense of special moments in nature to the viewer as she depicts the subject in its natural environment.
Besides African wildlife she has made several trips to the U.S.A and Canada where she has painted much of the wildlife of the west and the Rockies. Her work has been reproduced by Hallmark Greetings as a set of South African Christmas cards depicting the Big Five. A high class calendar of her Bushveld birds has also been produced. Diane has held numerous group and solo exhibitions in Limpopo, Gauteng and Kwa-Zulu Natal. Diane is an active supporter of animal rights and conservation causes.
