Eugene Van Vrede

Eugene Van Vrede is originally from Johannesburg, and now lives in the picturesque “Valley of a Thousand Hills,” KZN. He gained the fundamentals of oil painting from his uncle, who is a quadriplegic and paints for the Foot & Mouth Club. He spent many of his school holidays assisting him, and so gained an appreciation and understanding for oil paints.

He mainly uses oils & acrylics for the vibrant colours and textures one can achieve. He also incorporates a lot of pallet knife work in his pieces. Living in KZN with the abundant nguni herds made fascinating subjects for most of his pieces.
