Maria Oosthuizen

Maria Magdalena Oosthuizen was born in Paarl, but is currently residing in Mossel Bay.  She completed her matric in Heidelberg in the then Transvaal in 1990, where after she spent a year at the SA Army Women’s College. Between 1992 and 1993, she tried different fields of study, first marketing and later social work, but felt that it was a waste of time. She decided to quit her studies and started her career as a full-time marketer, and during this period she received diplomas in business management, as well as web development and design.

In December 1995 she got married and moved to England, where they lived and worked for almost two years. After moving back to South Africa, she worked in many jobs, such as cutting and colouring hair

A friend of hers invited her to be part of an exhibition, at which her paintings sold extremely well. “A couple of days later I made the decision to paint what was in my heart; an image of how we should serve the Lord.” Since 2006, without any formal training, knowledge or background in art, she realised that she had received a creative talent.

“I am inspired by God for He is the creator of all beautiful things.”

Maria is now a full-time artist exhibiting in various galleries.
