Phil Swart

Phil Swart is a Johannesburg based artist with a particular interest in cityscapes and street scenes. He studied architectural design overseas and was involved with a phyto-therapy company for a number of years before taking up painting full time. His main artistic influences have been Edward Hopper, Pierre Bonnard and Vuillard. Although he grew up in Durban, he has developed a passion for JHB and especially the CBD. With the current regeneration happening in the city, he feels it is a wonderful opportunity for people to re-discover some beautiful architecture and quirky buildings that have been forgotten.
